Opened since late 2019, Poppys Barn offeres a space where you can press that 'pause button' on life and enjoy the company of family and friends.
Poppy was our Chocolate Labrador (2009-2023) and she leaves a legacy that is now supported by her four legged friends Daisy, Netty & Bluebell. All dogs are very welcome at Poppys Barn where dog treats and dog towels (for wet feet, legs and bodies!) are available in abundance.
Poppy’s Barn Tea Rooms provides refreshing premium hot and cold drinks, freshly prepared breakfasts, light lunches, jacket potaotes & sandwiches, delicious home-made cakes, cream teas with homemade scones and fantastic afternoon teas to help you celebrate that special moment or just to treat yourself - but more importantly, a welcoming space for all you to enjoy and unwind.
Alongside our main offering, we also have a great selection of freshly prepared Gluten Free, Dairy Free and Vegan foods, homemade cakes, premium coffees, speciality teas and "posh pops"
We are located on the outskirts of Clavering, in the Uttlesford District of Essex and have plenty of free parking available in our car park (or overflow car park), cycle racks for 20+ cycles and lots of space for four legged friends too.
So if you're cycling along our country lanes, walking along our wonderful footpaths, riding through our rugged bridleways or off-raoding on our byways, why not take a break at Poppy's Barn Tea Rooms and soak up the atmosphere and enjoy a well deserved break.
As we say- "Treat Yourself, You Deserve It!"
2009 - 2023
Our beautiful founder, forever in our hearts.
Our lead meet-n-greeter, Daisy has taken over from where Poppy left off. A lovely Sprocker with a calming influence.
She loves meeting other four legged friends yet welcomes a fuss from two legged friends, adores children (whether to have a play or clear up the crumbs from those in the highchairs!!) and can often be found cooling off in the water during the hot weather!
Our 'doorbell' is a great addition to our 'meet-n-greet' team.
Netty, the beloved dog of my late dear neighbour, Ros, has settled in well despite sometimes being a little vocal when greeting guests!
Netty can be seen lapping up all the attention from everyone and anyone who wishes to stroke her or have her on their lap!!
Our latest addition to the four legged 'Meet-n-greeter' team, Bluebell is a Springador.
Bluebell loves to play with a tennis ball whenever she can and is full of energy!
So watch out, she'll happily get her ball and bring it to you to throw for her whenever she can but do you have the energy to keep up!!!!
With Emma's unique style, you are sure to be greeted with a fantastic smile and warm welcome.
Emma is a fantastic host, very friendly and always willing to ensure your visit is perfect in every way.
Emma joined when we first opened Poppy's Barn and can now be seen with guest appearances for 'special events'
Julie joined Poppy's Barn in October 2021 bringing with her a fresh style and oodles of experience.
Have a chat, say "Hello" and Julie will take great care of you whilst you're visiting Poppy's Barn.
Julie will also be seen at 'special events' now she has put her feet up working within the NHS!
Bella joined the team at the end of August 2024.
Living in the village, Bella is learning lots of about how a kitchen runs, has enjoyed preparing lots of fantastic afternoon teas and has thrown herself at all the tasks required.
When not here,Bella enjoys theatre amoungst other hobbies.
Rebecca joined the team in September 2024.
Living locally, Rebecca has shown she isn't shy of work and learning how important all aspects of kitchen work is coming together with front of house.
Starting with Potwash duties, you will now see Rebecca assiting with meeting, greeting and serving you front of house.
Our latest 'recruit' Sam has joined the team full-time from October 2024, bringing a wealth of experience with her.
Sam will be seen working front of house and also in the kitchen.
Have a chat with Sam and get to know her whilst visiting Poppys - she's great and very personable with a bright personality.
Tina, a dear friend, has helped out on Sundays primarily in the kitchen.
From Pot Washing, to now Cooking, Tina is an extremely friendly, member of the team who is great at keeping younger team members motivated as well as kleeping the kitchen in check!!!
George joined in November 2022 and brings a burst of energy and laughter to the team.
George has gone off to University but you will still see him when he is back during holiday, reading week or just home for a 'break'!
Caitlin joined in January 2023 and has settled into working leading the Front of House team on Saturdays.
Caitlin is a lovely friendly young lady who ensures your drinks are made to the finest quality and your visit to Poppy's Barn leaves you wanting to come back whilst helping answer any questions you have.
Tina ensures that all washing up is up to date on Sundays and can be seen making our popular freshly made milkshakes!
